How to Set Up Google Analytics 4 (GA4) in Linkilo

Connecting Google Analytics 4 lets Linkilo see which pages your visitors actually engage with and convert on — and feed that into the Link Priorities report, so link-building effort goes to pages that are worth it. The connection is read-only: Linkilo pulls aggregate page metrics and never changes anything in your Analytics account.

Where it lives

Linkilo → Settings → Integrations → Google Analytics (GA4) — its own tab, next to Google Search Console.

Setup steps

  1. Connect Google — GA4 uses the same Google connection as Search Console. If you haven't connected Google yet, do that first on the Google Search Console tab.
  2. On the GA4 tab, switch Enable GA4 on.
  3. Click Load my properties and pick the GA4 property that matches this website.
  4. Click Sync engagement now. Linkilo pulls per-page engagement (engagement rate, engaged sessions, average engagement time, pageviews, conversions) for the last 30 days and stores it locally.

After the first sync, Linkilo refreshes engagement automatically in its daily background maintenance — you don't need to press the button again.

What the data is used for

  • Link Priorities — pages your audience values but that receive few internal links rise to the top; pages with real conversions get prioritized hardest.
  • Engagement columns in reports, so you can judge a page's value at a glance.

Only aggregate, per-page numbers are stored — no visitor-level data.

Troubleshooting

"Google Analytics Admin API has not been used in project … before or it is disabled"

This comes from Google, not Linkilo: the Google Cloud project behind the connection needs two APIs switched on. Open the link shown in the error message (or Google Cloud Console → APIs & Services) and enable both the Google Analytics Admin API and the Google Analytics Data API, wait a few minutes, then try "Load my properties" again.

No properties listed

The Google account you connected must have at least Viewer access to the GA4 property. Reconnect with the right account, or grant access in GA4 Admin.

Engagement shows zeros

New GA4 properties need a day or two of traffic before the Data API returns numbers. Also confirm the property you picked is the one receiving this site's traffic.
