How to Bulk-Import Auto-Link Keywords with a CSV

Auto-link rules let you set up one keyword → URL mapping and have Linkilo apply it across your site automatically. Bulk import lets you upload dozens or hundreds of mappings in one shot via a CSV.

Step 1 — Prepare your CSV

Your CSV needs at least two columns:

  • Target Word — the keyword or phrase to auto-link
  • URL — the destination URL

Example:

Target Word,URL
"SEO proposal","https://example.com/seo-proposal"
"digital marketing","https://example.com/digital-marketing"
"internal linking","https://example.com/internal-linking-guide"

Add more rows as needed.

Step 2 — Open the Bulk Import section

  1. WordPress → Linkilo → Add New Auto Links
  2. Look for the Bulk Import Keywords button

Step 3 — Upload the CSV

  1. Click Bulk Import Keywords — a modal opens
  2. Click Choose File and select your CSV
  3. Check Use first row as header if your CSV has a header row (recommended)
  4. Click Upload

Step 4 — Set the global options

Inside the modal you'll see global options that apply to all imported rules:

  • Add URL even if the post already contains it? — check to add the link even when the destination is already linked elsewhere in the post
  • One link per post? — check to cap each target word at one link per post (recommended)

CSV column shortcut: if you add extra columns to your CSV for these options, 1 = checked, 0 = unchecked.

Step 5 — Finalize the import

After upload, Linkilo processes the file and inserts the auto-links across your site. You'll see a confirmation showing the number of URLs inserted.

Step 6 — Review and manage

Open Add New Auto Links to see every imported rule. From there you can:

  • Edit individual rules
  • Adjust settings per rule
  • Delete rules that aren't performing
  • Run Create Links for manual placement control

Tips for clean bulk imports

  • Quote phrases with commas"AI, machine learning" stays as one phrase. Without quotes, it becomes two phrases.
  • Test with 5 rows first to validate the format before uploading hundreds
  • Avoid duplicate target words — last one wins
  • Use full URLs with https:// — relative URLs don't always resolve correctly
  • Keep target words specific — "best" matches every post; "best coffee maker under $200" matches only the posts you want
